In the year 1992, started Indo World Tours and Travels, a partnership firm with ticketing and visa services.In 1997, we entered in to tourism sector by introducing a new concept in backwater tourism –a cruise through the backwaters of central Kerala in a country boat. Very soon these trips were listed and recommended by international guide books like Lonely Planet and Le guide routard. Soon after, we stepped on to organise tailor-made Package Tours in Kerala and South India.In the year 2000, the firm was recognized by Ministry of Tourism, Govt. of India. In 2012, Indo World introduced Village Life Experience Package in my home village, Vaikom - a responsible tourism initiative for the upheaval of the local people and art and crafts of the village. Till now Indo World is the one and only company promoting Responsible tourism packages in the private sector.For the past 15 years, company is distributing a Cochin City Tour Map and Kerala Map with essential information for the visiting tourists. Presently we launched an exclusive website for the promotion of village and backwater tourism in Kerala - www.keralabackwateronline.comIn the year 2012, we have published a booklet on Vaikom backwater village, with the participation of Hoteliers, Resort owners, Houseboat operators and tourism professionals in the region. The name of the Society is Vaikom Destination Promotion Council and I am being the Secretary of the organisation.Now, we are also managing a home stay with 7 accommodations facing Vaikom backwaters in tie up with an ancestral property owner.As a tourism professional, my future plan is to introduce more nature-bound packages for the discerning tourists, who wish to observe the life on rural villages in Kerala. And also the company is about to make a publication, featuring the major tour destinations in Kerala.
