Project Lead for Single Cell Genomics, tasked with developing NGS applications for DNA-seq at the single cell level. Developed products for targeted DNA sequencing, Whole Exome Sequencing (WES) and Whole Genome Sequencing (WGS).Project Lead for Single Cell Transcriptomics. Released product for detection and quantification of transcripts at the single cell level, using NGS (mRNA-seq).• Also led the R&D team for Production Genomics. Previously led the Fetal Diagnostics Group as well as the Digital PCR Group. • Led the Fetal Diagnostics Group as well as the Digital PCR Group. Project Lead for multimillion dollar collaboration with Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics, Emeryville, California, to develop a diagnostic test to detect fetal aneuploidy using digital PCR. • Project lead for high throughput SNP genotyping using proprietary chemistry. • Helped develop and commercialize real time qPCR-based systems using proprietary integrated fluidic circuits (IFCs) for high throughput and efficient manipulation of nano-volume fluids for the Life Sciences marketplace.• Led group responsible for developing and commercializing High Throughput Genotyping systems. • Developed and commercialized the Digital Array – a system designed to perform digital PCR. Personally involved in developing approaches for detecting rare mutations in cancers (needle-in-haystack approach), copy number variation (CNV) in human populations, and digital haplotyping.

• Led a multidisciplinary team to develop products for the In Vitro Diagnostic market, including developing assays for detection of specific infectious diseases in the clinical marketplace. Lead efforts for a premarketing submission, or 510(k), in close collaboration with the Product Engineering, Software Development, QA/QC and Marketing groups. 8 direct employee reports and 4 contractors.• Developed Verigene ID System, based on ClearRead technology, which is a SNP-based microarray platform for detecting gene defects associated with hypercoagulation in humans; product released in September of 2003, concept to product in 8 months. This project involved interaction with manufacturing, systems engineering and marketing.• Developed the CPSD program, for rational design of sequences for microarrays. This project involved the interaction and coordination of molecular biologist, software engineers (coders) as well as hardware engineers. Concept to product in 10 months.• Oversaw design and coordinated the development of new state of the art laboratory space, including molecular biology labs, BioSecurity Labs (BSL2/P2 labs) and dedicated PCR labs for manufacturing.

• Led a group of 9 scientists, working on developing Expression Bioarrays on the Motorola oligonucleotide array platform; Motorola CodeLink Expression Assay taken from concept to product in less than a year• Led a team to investigate developing oligonucleotide expression and SNP microarrays for the pharmaceutical marketplace.

• Conducted and managed the entire molecular biology portion of the highly successful multi-fluorescent SpectraVysion assay, which was commercially released after a year and a half work, according to schedule.
