  • Shakti Scholarships
    Founder
Shakti Scholarships Oct 2021 - Present
    Nepal
The scholarships program aims to empower at-risk and disadvantaged young girls in Nepal through education. Shakti Scholarships is currently conducting free Art Courses at Shree Secondary School Doghare, Dang. How did Shakti Scholarships start? The word ‘Shakti’ is derived from Sanskrit which means ‘power’ or ‘empowerment’. It also denotes the female principle of divine energy. The concept of ‘Shakti’ scholarships emerged from the major festival of Nepal called Dashain which is celebrated for 10 days. During the ten days, different forms of the goddesses are worshipped. I found it ironic that in a country where the main festival of the country is dedicated to females, few steps have been taken to uplift and empower them. Therefore, based on my field of interest and expertise which is education, I decided to take a step toward female empowerment. I realised that by sacrificing a per cent of my paycheck every week, I could easily sponsor a child’s education in Nepal. With this concept in mind, I started designing the project plan for Shakti Scholarships. How will Shakti Scholarships make a difference?1. Financial Support2. SAS Packs (Sanitary and Stationery Packs)3. Competitions 4. Online courses5. Consultation
