Dr. Ramesh Byrapaneni is a Cardiologist and an entrepreneur turned Venture Capitalist. Dr. Ramesh obtained his post-graduation (MD) in Internal Medicine, postdoctoral fellowship (DM) in Cardiology from PGI, Chandigarh, and a fellowship in Interventional Cardiology from the University of Alabama, Birmingham, USA. He started one of the earliest private hospitals in India in the late 1980s, a 350-bed multi-specialty hospital at a time when private healthcare was almost nonexistent in the country. He pursued clinical work for almost 3 decades before he moved into the world of startups and venture investments. Dr. Ramesh's shift to the world of startup and venture investments was driven by a passion to be a part of the Healthcare Innovation story in the country and make his expertise and resources available to build future-focused Healthcare and Life-sciences businesses that touch many lives positively. Dr. Ramesh has over 10 years of experience across angel/seed/pre-series A investments. Ramesh's past investments include Nephroplus (India’s largest chain of dialysis centers), OneBreath (low-cost but fully functional ICU-grade ventilator), and SmartRx (patient engagement platform). His present investments include SigTuple (AI in Pathology), Synapsica (AI in Radiology), Eyestem Research (Innovative cell therapies), ekincare (Corporate wellness platform), and sugar.fit (chronic disease management, diabetes). His current focus is Digital Health and Life sciences and he believes in the huge potential of Indian entrepreneurs in building sustainable businesses and world-class products and services.Dr. Ramesh speaks at several leading Start-up related, healthcare centric conferences and events nationally and globally and is a part of the National Startup Advisory Council (NSAC) of the Government of India. He has in the past been associated with TiE Hyderabad (President ) and has been a Founding Director of the Hyderabad Angels. He was also the Founding Chairperson of the Hyderabad 10K Run Foundation which started the first 10K Run/Marathons in the country and was a Board Member of United Way Hyderabad that supports and mainstreams the socio-economically underprivileged communities of Telangana and Andhra Pradesh.
