Technical lead and work-package manager in the Integrated Energy Systems (IES) program at the Idaho National Laboratory (INL), specializing in developing renewable energy systems of the future to couple nuclear & non-nuclear systems to showcase the mass movement of clean energy in interconnected hybrid & microgrid networks. Authored >50 publications and reports, including a book chapter and 9 patents, and received several Multi-Million Dollar DOE/DOD grants as a PI in this field. Prior to joining INL, served for 6+ years in the industry and private sector (Director of Engineering at PCES and TES project manager at GTI) helping capital and commercial projects navigate complex technical landscapes, leading to numerous solutions, products, and 9 patented commercialized technologies in several industries including built environment, power generation, industrial waste heat recovery, life-science, and beyond. Frequent reviewer and editorial board member for professional Springer and Elsevier journals among others, and recipient of an Outstanding Reviewer status "top 10th percentile reviewers" by Elsevier. Served as an Editor, Chairperson and Technical Committee member of several international conferences on engineering sciences.In my current role at Idaho National Laboratory, I serve as the technical lead for the IES & Nuclear Reactor Innovation Center (NRIC) Advanced Reactor IES Test Platform at the EBR-II Dome historical site, Nuclear-Industrial Requirements and Integration, as well as the Nuclear Thermal Energy Storage project under the IES program. I am Proud and grateful to be part of a mission focused on the development and enhanced utilization of nuclear and non-nuclear energy generation options within the DOE IES program.Areas of recent projects:- Invented a new heat exchanger design utilizing phase transition for nuclear heat transfer, thermal energy storage, and load-following operation (Patent App #: 62/819,257).- Invented a thermal management kit with latent heat component for data centers and servers (Patent #: 62/915,51).- Invented a system for passive cooling and thermal management of localized heat flux zones (U.S. Patent #:62/948,721, 2020).- Developed a thermal energy storage system to replace conventional Ice condenser system in LOCA accidents.- Participated in the invention and commercialization of the world's first patented gelled phase change transition products in solid-solid form.- Secured >$12 million in research grants as a principal investigator (PI) in the past 7 years, funded by DOE and DOD.Email│ rami.saeed@inl.gov
