My duties included inspecting gears, flow meters, and other manufactured parts and making sure they were within the specifications set by the customers (usually on the order 1/10,000th of an inch). The 2 projects I spent most of my time on were doing quality control on gear parts for an robotic gear box being sent to the ISS (International Space Station), as well as using a CNC gear grinder to construct gears for construction equipment (earth movers) and fracking wells. A lot of careful attention was needed in order to guarantee accurate results.
