Through the Health Transformation Institute, a mission-driven subsidiary of BRG, wecreated a groundbreaking systemic framework for addressing and reducing physician burnout.

Strategically positioned the College for greater global engagement, enhanced innovative capacity, and a more resource-stressed future through increased financial and organizational discipline, faculty and staff empowerment, and investing in new academic and creative exploration; accomplished the objective in 15 months.

We reversed AUB's (a $450 million enterprise) downward trend, developed and enacted sound financial and organizational strategies, provided for deeper investments in infrastructure, research, and innovation, established greater transparency with stakeholders, and completed a full-scale master plan and strategic direction for the University.

As the founding director, I established a Higher Education Practice engaged in strategic and academic consulting, innovative approaches to executive education, building a global corporate university, and restructuring distressed higher education entities.

We are credited with the successful turnaround of the School (a $500 million enterprise) through financial strategies that brought stability, built reserves, created new revenue sources, and enabled strong fundraising, ensuring the School’s long-term sustainability. We developed and delivered on an ambitious ten-year capital plan to revitalize the academic and scientific infrastructure. We were visionary in our approach to entrepreneurship and building innovation capacity, faculty recruitment, and academic efficiency & effectiveness measures. The School regained its position as the intellectual core of the University and is consistently ranked among the top ten in the nation

Award-winning teacher with expertise in cohort and hybrid learning methodologies. Annually, taught courses in:-Budgeting and Financial Management for Public and Non-Profit Entities-Complexity, Uncertainty, and Leadership

We led the development of the Funds Flow, and managed the financial and organizational relationship between the four academic hospitals, two medical schools, and the two universities. The merger dissolved in 2000.

As a critical member of the team responsible for the merger between UCSF and Stanford hospitals, one of the largest and most complex mergers at that time, I led the formation of the clinical enterprise, thus enabling the merger of comparable organizational structures.

We successfully justified and annually defended over $600 million in Medicare and Medi-Cal reimbursements. Successfully negotiated numerous Medicare appeals with the Health Care Financing Administration, resulting in $75 million in financial settlements.

In addition to successfully managing the foremost emergency department in Marin County and its only trauma center, we increased revenues through better coding and improved efficiency using metrics, enhanced patient flow, and triage services. We created the framework for the first of its kind, business management position, bridging the hospital and the contracted emergency physician group. Our success resulted in the implementation of the position in 33 emergency departments in California.
