Currently full professor and Director of the Research Institute on Automatics and Industrial Informatics (ai2) of Universitat Politecnica de Valencia (Spain), with more than 120 outstanding researchers on Industrial Control, Industrial Informatics, Robotics, Artificial Vision and Computer Graphics.I did my PhD in Electrical and Electronic Engineering at Nottingham University. My main topic of research is control and grid integration of wind energy in HVAC and HVDC grids, including pioneering research on the use of diode rectifier HVDC stations for the connection of large grid-forming off-shore wind power plants.I also work on optimisation and new technology to allow a very high percentage of renewable energy into the electric system at competitive costs. Currently also working with CERN on technical and economical viability analysis of potential HVDC/MVDC grids for the supply of the Future Circular Collider.
