The Assistant Director works as a member of the Office of Student Services team to provide an extensive and broad-reaching system of support to prospective undergraduate students, applicants, current students, and faculty. Essential duties:• Coordinate admission processes for the campus majors, including online application setup, admission requirement verification, committee reviews, and coordination with UW Admissions.• Track enrollment in an anticipated new major, specifically the different options, to determine student interest and the impact on course scheduling and enrollment limits.• Supervise and lead undergraduate advisers in the College of Education. • Support academic advisers in their efforts to respond to student academic progress concerns.• Provide vision and leadership for undergraduate advising in the College of Education, including efforts to implement anti-racist advising practices, trauma-informed advising practices, and supporting students' multiple ways of knowing and being.• Use student data/metrics to provide meaningful assessments about current and future needs.• Partner with the Assistant Dean of Undergraduate Programs to support undergraduate program maintenance and growth, including program development, enrollment, course scheduling and sequencing, and program changes or enhancements.• Serve as a liaison with other services and departments in the College and on campus as needed.• Provide holistic advising for prospective and declared CoE undergraduate students.

The Director of Student Life and Leadership is the primary advisor for the Associated Students of Lane Community College Student Government (ASLCCSG) and the Council of Clubs and is the central campus resource for recognized student organizations. The Director develops and facilitates student engagement to create a vibrant, active campus life that attracts and retains students. Essential duties:• Primary responsible for creating a comprehensive and progressive co-curricular student leadership development program, supervisory oversight of the Rainy Day Food Pantry, No Cash Clothing Stash, Snack Shack, the Center for Student Engagement, and coordinate the annual college commencement ceremony.• Develop programs and events that are both prescriptive and challenge students to experience different ideas, perspectives and cultures.• Build positive mentoring relationships with students of varying capabilities, interests and success challenges. • Demonstrate initiative and strategic thinking in planning and resolving issues. Facilitate meetings, develop and implement trainings and workshops, and assist with conflict resolution is essential. • Ensure a hospitable environment for all students. • Serve as a role-model for cultural competency and principles of social justice.

Essential duties:• Provide leadership, administrative oversight, and policy/protocol/process development for the Welcome Center Department.• Ensure that the Welcome Center Department provides outstanding customer service to prospective students through the TargetX Higher Ed CRM.• Ensure that all new students completes admission or other entry processes, participate in new student orientation, and connects with an academic advisor. • Act as the campus subject matter expert in areas related to outreach and admission services, participate in campus initiatives, and provide campus trainings.• Establish assessment tools and processes to evaluate effectiveness of admission advising appointments, information sessions, campus tours, new student orientations, and other entry level services. Analyze data and adjust service levels and protocols appropriately.• Use technology (Salesforce, Canvas, video conferencing) to enhance online processes, improve communication, and to develop effective presentations. Evaluate outcomes and make appropriate adjustments as needed.• Support meetings with students and their families to discuss and resolve a variety of issues related to admission and other entry processes. • Act as budget authority for the Welcome Center Department.• Serve as a member of Student Affairs Cabinet.

Essential duties:• Provide direct student support services and academic case management using group and individual interventions.• Teach student success class.• Supervise, train, and evaluate student workers.• Help to foster an atmosphere that is inclusive, sensitive to individual and cultural differences.• Supervise the operational aspects of student success initiatives and retention programs such as MCS Tutoring and MCS Mentoring programs.• Help to plan, develop, and implement student success workshops.• Develop a positive environment that supports pluralism, equity, innovation, teamwork and successful student outcomes.

Essential duties:• Create and implement strategies, policies, practices, and partnerships to advance United Way of Lane County's (UWLC), the Lane Early Learning Alliance's (ELA) equity, Live Health Lane's (LHL) equity, and community engagement goals.• Develop, coordinate, and/or facilitate diversity, equity, and inclusion related training for UWLC staff, board members, and other partners as needed.• Represent UWLC/ELA/LHL on community coalitions, collaborations, and initiatives that align with United Way's equity and community engagement goals and strategies. • Use data and develop metrics to track outcomes and measure progress.

As a program facilitator at the University of Oregon, I led and supported the implementation and evaluation of professional development programs for teachers and parents. The programs supported school readiness for pre-school age children of Latino-Spanish speaking families and college and career readiness for older children who experience barriers to opportunity.

As a Research Associate for IRIS Educational Media, I was primarily in charge of developing strong and formal partnership agreements with individual leaders, schools, and community organizations that provided referrals in the state of Oregon. I also conducted one-on-one and group facilitation meetings with a wide range of students, parents, and school personnel in Oregon to develop two training curricula that are culturally adapted for Latino-Spanish speaking families. The first program, Padres Preparados: A Cultural Adaptation of an Evidence-Based Parenting Intervention (Prepared Parents) addresses the Latino achievement gap through a parent intervention designed to increase school readiness skills in preschool age children. The second project, Mis Hijos y Yo (My Children and Me), is a multi-media program that provides Latino parents with education materials to protect children from risks associated with divorce and familial separation. Both programs were awarded funding for a second phase of study by the National Institute of Health.

As a researcher for the Juntos Center for Advancing Latino Health at the University of Kansas Medical Center, I was able to collaborate with the Mexican Consulate in Kansas City, MO, in order to promote a health partnership between the Mexican Government and the University of Kansas Medical Center in a program titled Ventanilla de Salud Móvil. Thanks to this partnership, we were able to provide health and consulate services to over 2,000 Mexican nationals and other Latino families. I also collaborated in outreach activities for the annual Bike Safety Rodeo and Latino Health for All Coalition and provided support for the focus group research in Wyandotte County Health. Lastly, I provided grant writing support (American Heart Association and Office of Minority Health) and updated Latino demographic data in the state of Kansas.

As a Research Assistant for the Social Determinants of Health Project, I was able to examine health disparities and the underlying social determinants that can negatively impact the health of underserved and disadvantaged community members – particularly the Hispanic immigrant population. The results of this study demonstrated the importance of several novel approaches to ameliorating health disparities including the use of community-based participatory research, the effectiveness of interventions that target social networks, the importance of primary care access in ameliorating health disparities, and the effectiveness of Geographic Information System software in order to map Latinos settlement patterns and healthcare services in Charlotte, NC.In addition, I compared the effectiveness of five different systems that provided primary health care to uninsured Hispanic population (Centro Medico Latino, Charlotte Community Health Clinic, Inc., CMC North Park Family Practice, Physicians Reach Out [Community Health Services], and CMC University Emergency Department). I also collected comprehensive data from local and census based sources to provide an updated overview of the Latino communities in Charlotte, NC.
