In collaboration with faculty at Ecole Centrale de Nantes, France and Flinders University of South Australia, developed and executed a combined numerical and experimental research program on the use of fiber optics for on-line performance monitoring and damage assessment of composite propeller blades with the goal of improving active and passive control.

Responsible for designing a research program to investigate torque control for an adaptive pitch marine turbine. Applying machine learning techniques to develop and optimize a control strategy that minimizes thrust in overload conditions. Collaborating with an interdisciplinary research team to integrate adaptive blade studies into a wider program.

Developed and led a combined numerical and experimental research program to investigate bend-twist coupled composite turbine blades for use in hydrokinetic energy harvesting.
