This was a unique barista position. Starbucks has a strong mission to provide a “third-space” to its customers; that is, a space between work and home. While I fulfilled my responsibilities as a barista, I let the quality of customers’ experiences drive my work. Their mission is one that I could align with, and because of that their mission was carried out through my work, however mundane that work may have looked.

Teamwork drove our success at Sunny Point and I depended on it as a support cook. Clear communication throughout a shift was vital, as the restaurant was always busy and the kitchen, always loud.As the pastry cook, much of my work was done independently. I created desserts for our weekly specials while maintaining our seasonal desserts.
