My role at JLR is to help with delivery of new technologies to vehicle concept readiness by running experimentation and assessing occupant thermal comfort.

In my role as Senior Research Assistant I led the design and implementation of end-to-end wireless instrumentation for home environment/energy monitoring and implemented wireless sensing systems for automobile occupant thermal/ergonomic comfort assessment. Industry collaborators included Orbit Group (SUSTAINS) and Jaguar Land Rover (LCVTP and PLACES). Within the LCVTP project I designed and ran experimentation to investigate subjective automobile cabin comfort with current HVAC control methods. Within PLACES I designed and ran experimentation to investigate pressure distribution at the occupant-seat interface, monitor occupant postural comfort, and demonstrate the impact of seat heating and cooling on achieving thermal comfort.

My PhD thesis titled “Posture classification for real life, real time applications”, resulted, amongst other achievements, in the first implemented system to demonstrate real-time, on-body, in-network postural classification for natural movement, with a high degree of accuracy.
