Research FellowUniversity Of Southern California Aug 2010 - Dec 2015Los Angeles, Ca, UsAs part of (and before) my PhD work, I lead development on Golgi: the Google Maps for the Brain.Golgi was an interactive online brain map; representing the whole central nervous system (and the connections between brain regions that form brain circuits) as an explorable, interactive 2D map for researchers and practitioners.When I wasn’t working on Golgi, I was authoring NSyL; the Neural Systems Language. NSyL is an open language specification for humans and machines to communicate about neural system architecture and accelerate curation of neural connectivity reports from the literature. My deep gratitude to the Rose Hills Foundation for their support of my fellowship and this crucial work. -
Research FellowUc Irvine Jun 2009 - Aug 2010Irvine, Ca, UsAs a fellow and research scientist in the Martens Lab, I worked on how we can use nanotechnology to purify salt water into fresh water. I used molecular dynamics simulations to explore how we can induce non-equilibrium fluid dynamics into asymmetrically-charged, single-walled carbon nanotubes. Work was funded by DAPRA.
