PT.Perkasa Melati shipyard is a fully owned subsidiary of Louis Dreyfus. LD is a conglomerate from france involved in the Marine, Energy, Offshore, Logistics and Commodity trading sectors.My profile as yard manager at PTPM requires me to monitor and control our ship building projects, plan and execute yard development activities and develop the ship repair business.

Managing Ship Repair operations including project management (Scheduling of repair vessels), commercial, marketing & operations.Additional responsibilities included equipment rentals & managing the Business Center.

The project was an ambitious plan to convert a 35 year old, 30,000 DWT bulk carrier into an offshore warehouse and accomodation barge. The vessel would finally be capable of supporting logistic, material and personnel of upto 14 deep offshore platforms or drilling rigs.This job, was the first step and a big step at changing over from the marine field. Hired initially to act as observer on this vessel, I found my self drawn into day to day project management and was soon reporting to the management on production activities, schedules and progress.

Managing the operational aspect of KSPL which included plannning and scheduling of vessel's traffic into the port, optimizing the turnover of cargo handled by the port. Marketing the port as a userfriendly, productive organization. Responsible to the government for conservation of the jetty, waterways and navigational aids. Responsible to the pollution control board for maintaining permissible levels of air, water and land emissions/effluents. Port facility security officer. Reporting directly to the CEO.
