• Identified and addressed process inefficiencies for industrial clients within the O&G and chemical production sectors based on P&IDs, PFDs, SOPs, tag data, and KPIs. • Analyzed reactor and distillation control loops in order to implement a machine learning algorithm designed to optimize olefin and linear alkylbenzene product yields in a catalytic dehydrogenation and reaction process. • Conducted statistical data analyses on real-time data to quickly identify addressable root causes impacting separation efficiency.

Internship focusing on low-temperature corrosion, particularly HCl and NH4Cl/amine under-deposit corrosion, in at-risk zones in crude distillation and vacuum distillation units.• Compared pilot results of ionic concentration profiles in water/oil mixtures with PRO/II simulation results generated using an electrolytic thermodynamic package. Performed additional stream pH calculations using OLI Studio. • Constructed PRO/II simulations for both the crude & vacuum distillation unit overhead systems to generate condensation, pH, and corrosive species concentration profiles. Assessed corrosive salt deposition risks at overhead.• Developed Excel tool with VBA to calculate water dew point and corrosive salt deposition temperatures for multi-stage overhead condenser/drum system given lab analysis input data. • Created Excel tool with VBA to calculate wash water injection requirements at the overhead system from mass and energy balance considerations.

Internship exploring the use of process graph methods to solve applications in process network synthesis, particularly focusing on energetic networks. • Generated cost-optimal superstructures for polygeneration networks that also satisfied user-specified CO2 emission limits. • Modeled a decentralized energetic network involving a photovoltaic system, energy storage, and non-renewable energy sources. The network satisfied time-varying energetic consumption needs using meteorological data and hourly consumer energy use in Marseilles, France.

Collaborated with a small team of engineers as a consulting agent to improve plant efficiency at a Duke Energy cogeneration plant sponsored by the University of Florida. • Determined the preliminary specifications of a proposed steam turbine to be used on steam produced from a HRSG in order to cover parasitic loads of the plant.• Performed heat exchanger sizing calculations and mass & energy balances on plant retrofitting proposals.• Designed P&ID and one-line electrical diagram showcasing the redesigned steam distribution system.• Conducted preliminary economic analysis justifying the implementation of the steam turbine. • Carried out preliminary economic study and technical design in order to eliminate two alternate plant efficiency improvement proposals.
