Timor-Leste

I worked as an advisor for the Professional Skills Development (PSD) Program, which aims to improve education, skills and employment opportunities for Timorese students and young professionals. This is achieved through the internship program, engineering design challenge, mentoring program and monthly workshops.Achievements• Simplified processes, enabling initiatives to be more efficiently run• Increased the number of participants engaged in workshops by introducing focal points in universities and standardizing the timing of workshops• Secured new partnerships to create new opportunities and reduce running costs• Automated regular monitoring and evaluation tasks, reducing time spent on collecting and processing data• Worked closely with the local program manager to build capacity• Completed end of financial year report to DFAT on program progress

Timor-Leste

I worked as a technical consult to Similie on a Early Warning System for flood detection for a community in Timor-Leste. This system provides community members with time to move livestock from areas that will flood.Achievements• Completed device hardware design, testing and construction• Completed software configuration and programming for field device to talk to cloud based server• Reduced loss of livelihoods for community members

I worked in the Engineering Analysis and Advice team, to provide technical support, design help, and to create and maintain the standards across the business. A previous role was in the control system operations and maintenance team, working on the Supervisory Control And Data Acquisition (SCADA) system to maintain and improve control system operations, reliability and efficiency. I also worked as a project manager for research projects relating to water quality as well as project upgrades to the control system to increase operational efficiency and deliver information across the business to drive better informed decisions.Achievements• Maintaining responsibility on call as the sole SCADA engineer responsible for rectifying any problems with the Bulk Water pipeline network grid control system• Ensuring functionality and maintainability of SEQWater assets by testing on site• Upgrading the control system at two of our largest water treatment plants to meet regulatory requirements• Creating existing state control system architecture drawings for 120 sites across the South East Queensland water grid• Driving more than $70,000 in savings for SEQWater through the development of a manganese prediction model

Key responsibilities included team management, engineering research, design and construction of mechanical and electrical systems.Achievements:• Designed and constructed a low-cost AUV for water quality monitoring• Limited total cost to $370• Constructed using common and mass produced components to ensure replaceability and reduced cost

I was responsible for the safety and general wellbeing of residents at International House College. Key responsibilities included providing personal and academic support, ensuring the safety and security of the college residents at IH, providing first aid, responding to fire alarms and maintaining communication between residents and staff.Achievements:• Provided personal and academic support for 190 residents• Acted as Senior Fire Warden responding to fire alarms and emergency situations• Assisted in the running of events held at IH and ensuring the safety of residents, staff and guests

I was elected by residents of IH college to be a member of the student club executive committee managing sporting events for the residents. Key responsibilities included coordinating and managing teams and participants for 16 different sports, managing and replacing sports equipment and determining day-to-day operations and strategic direction of the organisation along with fellow executive members.Achievements:• Successfully obtained a government grant in excess of $10,000 to replace all sporting equipment damaged by the 2011 flood• Managed a budget in excess of $15,000• Managed 16 different teams and groups of participants for 16 different sporting events
