Description: Two of the most commonly used algorithms in the industry were implemented, in simulations using Matlab/Simulink and experimentally using a parallax microcontroller, to track the maximum power point on photovoltaic system when partial shading occurs. A DC to DC converter is used for the algorithm to control the power from the photovoltaic. Other peripherals were also used like the analogue to digital converter (ADC) to measure voltage and Hall Effect sensor to measure the current. The system was also configured to track the suns trajectory using phototransistors and servo motors.
