DESN1000 - Introduction to Engineering Design and Innovation (Mechanical Stream)Assisted in the facilitation of a new project for the mechanical engineering stream. The morphing wing project aimed to address the surging interests in aerospace engineering from students while providing exposure to mechanical, manufacturing and mechatronic disciplines.Primary duties included:1. Teaching students how to use SolidWorks for designing parts and assemblies for their project.2. Providing guidance on how to design assemblies with fits and tolerances for manufacturing.3. Introducing students to manufacturing methods such as 3D printing (Fused Deposition Modelling) and Laser Cutting.

1. Assisted in engaging with potential UNSW students and the general public to help them understand what the University has to offer within Engineering, specifically the School of Mechanical and Manufacturing Engineering.2. Assisted the school at short notice to coordinate and co-create a workshop for 60 future students to be engaged with engineering.

1. Liaised with the University of Sydney and University of New South Wales student branches of AIAA to develop and promote student presence within the Australian (Section VII) AIAA community.2. Established the Sydney Joint Aerospace Committee (SJAC) with the UNSW Aerospace Society (formerly AIAA UNSW), UTS Aerospace Society, AIAA USSB and Sydney Women in Aerospace Engineering Society in order to coordinate multiple joint events. Such events included social events such as Games night and Yuri’s night. 3. Co-organised and hosted Sydney’s annual 2023 Aerospace Networking Night with the Sydney Joint Aerospace Committee; Enabling over 180 aerospace oriented undergraduates to meet with 70 industry guests from 30 different companies and learn more about their industry by networking. Specific involvements included the production of media (such as the keynote presentation, event handbook), invitations to industry, event setup and assisting AIAA USSB to secure funding from the section to financially contribute to the event.

1. Responsible for optimising the parameters of rocket nozzles to maximise thrust efficiency

1. Liaising with external societies such as the UNSW Aerospace Society (formerly AIAA UNSW) and UNSW Design Build Fly on a regular basis to assist and update student activity, whether it be in industry networking or student projects.2. Assisted in marketing the society's annual Kingsford Smith Memorial Lecture with the use of graphic design and social media to engage the interests of UNSW engineering students.3. Assisted with furthering penultimate undergraduate and postgraduate engineering student’s progression into industry through the Industry Mentoring Initiative instituted by RAeS.

1. Learnt and applied high-level programming (Go/Golang) to undertake the following projects:A) Build an Engine Maintenance Cost Simulation for sustainable fleet development and optimised scheduling for MROs. This required the investigation of how to apply heuristic approaches to automated scheduling.B) Build an algorithm to structure and decode ARINC424 Standard Instrument Departure/Arrival (SID/STAR) Procedure entries into a usable format for simulating and predicting takeoff and approach-to-landing flight paths.2. Completed a short Weights and Balances Training course to understand the logistics of aircraft loading/unloading as well as the CASA CAO 100.7 and CASR part 91 technical regulations for recording the Weight and CG of an aircraft then further determine whether the aircraft is able to perform within the given flight envelope.

1. Experimented with Carbon Fibre Layups, Multi-Axis Machine Milling of Moulds and Structures.2. Learning and conceptually designing aircraft wings to suit lift and drag capabilities.3. Used XFLR5 to analyse lift, drag and stall capabilities of each airfoil.4. Learnt Finite Element Analysis and Computational Fluid Dynamics with ANSYS.

1. Created an Industry Prospectus to help and inform investors of the society's intentions and to secure funds for travel and resource expenditures.2. Designed team uniforms using Adobe Illustrator to help the society become more identifiable with the university and the public.

1. Successfully assisted in a joint venture with the UNSW Rocketry Team to host a fund raiser party. Mainly worked on Risk Analysis and Contingencies for the event.

1. Successfully hosted a 10 week mentoring program between senior aerospace engineering students and junior engineering students2. Successfully hosted a three day expedition in Canberra for 40 students to better understand the aerospace industry, specifically, Hypersonics, Cube Satellites, Launch Testing, Military UAV acquisitions and Air Accident Investigations.3. Developed handbook and prospectus for the annual Networking Night.4. Planned and hosted a LinkedIn Photoshoot event to enhance their own profiles on LinkedIn,5. Overall gained and maintained the society's engagement and retention by imposing a social atmosphere when required.
