About Rana Basheer Phd

I am a jack of all trades but a master of wireless networking. My tryst with wireless started way back before the start of this century. During my masters, I wrote the first version of a new wireless MAC layer called the Redundant Tree Network (RTN), which provided fault tolerance to Bluetooth when the original Bluetooth was designed to carry mostly audio data. Fast forward 18 years; I now have a company that is commercializing all my work, including several published journals in IEEE mobile computing. Edyza Inc. is primarily operating in indoor farming and is revolutionizing the concept of microclimate tracking, machine diagnostics, and pest pressure estimation.     Reaching out to electric motor enthusiasts in my feed. On Monday, April 12th, 2021, I am starting as an instructor at UCI. My first class is on advanced motor control theory.     High density deployment of wireless sensors is the direction in which industrial IoT is headed. However, there are some fundamental technical challenges such as powering these sensors without wires or batteries, scheduling wireless channel access without all transmitters sending packets at the same time causing packet loss, running code on them that retains its state through intermittent power loss, updating firmware on thousands of sensors with zero downtime, securely provisioning new sensors and finally securely transferring the sensor data. Over the last 15 years Rana has worked on solving these technical challenges and Edyza team finally put together a silicon-to-cloud solution containing a wireless sensor controller as a System on Module (SoM) and our RESTful APIs that allows easy management of sensor devices and data. A full silicon-to-cloud solution where companies can get to market in weeks than in years with a robust and secure product.
