After a couple of decades working in Seattle and living on Bainbridge Island, I relocated back to Minneapolis in 2013 to be with my partner. Child abuse prevention and advocating for children in the child welfare system have been front and center in my work. I am a research wonk - it's like digging in the cyberspace dirt to find nuggets of knowledge that can change hearts and minds. I have had the pleasure of working with fine mentors such as Dee Wilson, a national expert on child well-being and trauma-informed social work and Chris Downs, developmental psychologist who taught me so much about assessing older youths' knowledge of life after foster care. As a theater activist, I am the co-creator of Toklas, MN and I am the writer and performer of In My Father's Bed which premiered in Seattle and toured nationally. I have used my theater background in my corporate work more than I thought possible. I am now working as a freelance writer, doing some project work, and working on a book of essays about growing up in Texas.
