Within 2 years, my formulation development group grew from 2 to 10 and as my management capacity increased, so too did my technical involvement as I took on another title as Research Fellow. In recent years, my time was split into thirds concentrated on (1) lab work (2) people and FormDev management and (3) intellectual property – IP functions as it related to product inventions, patent filing, etc. FORMULATION DEVELOPMENT MANAGER CAPACITY: In this particular role, I concentrated on owning product development output and driving R&D performance across our 10-person group. I had my hand in just about everything related to our IP portfolio including research, testing, patents, commercialization, and refinement of our oil/gas and agriculture products. Mit Visiting ScientistDow Corning Sep 2003 - Apr 2008Midland, Michigan, UsFollowing early capacities with Dow as a Research Specialist/Scientist, I was given the opportunity to leverage my expertise with self-assembly to support work conducted by the Institute for Soldier Nanotechnology (ISN), a joint venture between MIT, Dow Corning, and the U.S. Army. During this time, I contributed extensively to projects involving block copolymers and development of superhydrophobic silicone nanofibers as well as identified emerging innovations in nanotechnology. KEY ACCOMPLISHMENTS: • Invented surface functionalized superhydrophobic silicone nanofibers resulting in a Langmuir paper (cited 558 times since publication in 2005) and 2 patents.• Successfully acquired 3 years of U.S. Army funding to further the evolution of nanofiber membranes used in breathable protective textiles. • Spearheaded global incubator project on self-assembling nanostructured silicone materials for photonic applications. -
