Most often referred to by my middle name, Barton, I’m a strategic and insightful thinker, whose talents are best demonstrated through the evaluations and decisions made during my daily business activities. I take an inquisitive and open-minded approach, constantly exploring economic opportunities and possibilities that others frequently overlook or simply don’t see.I also have an innate ability to envision value creation where others would say none exists. It’s been a hallmark of my successes throughout my business career.Greatly influenced by my parents, I credit my mother with instilling a mindset of patience and thoughtfulness that has helped shape my decision making. My father, a banking executive, helped satisfy my youthful inquisitiveness, allowing me to observe meetings conducted with other bankers and people in the business community. The lessons learned have proved invaluable.Following my years at Holy Cross High School, and with a strong faith guiding me, I began developing an acute sense of duty and ethics through a seven-year tenure in law enforcement, with positions as deputy sheriff and investigator. All the time, however, the lure of the business world was in the back of his mind. Ultimately, it brought me to New Orleans through an offer of employment as a security manager for Rouse Enterprises. It proved to be an ideal way to use my law enforcement background in making the transition to the business world.Today, I serve on the Advisory Board of Emergency and Security Studies at Tulane University and operate a number of business ventures and activities, keeping several very simple precepts in mind: “Relentlessly pursue opportunity, work diligently behind the scenes, and always lead with confidence and commitment.”
