As an intern with the City of Novato, I authored the appendix for the City of Novato’s General Plan Update: Sea Level Rise and Climate Adaptation where I analyzed sea level rise to be referenced for at-risk tidal and low lying areas vulnerable to flooding and climate change. Designed to indicate buildings for which preservation is encouraged, and other properties that would be better suited for development, specific development strategies were recommended to preserve buildings identified by the guide to ensure the historic feel and character of the neighborhood was not lost during revitalization. Development sites and infill opportunities were identified, and research findings were presented to the public and the Office of Economic and Workforce Development representative several times through monthly forums held by the Ocean Avenue Merchants Association.
