I have more than three decades of experience blending the worlds of finance, business and public policy. My career started in Washington DC and eventually came back to Oregon where I eventually ran and won a seat in the State Legislature and later became Oregon’s youngest State Treasurer, overseeing a $70 billion investment portfolio, creating innovative public financing and investing tools like the Oregon College Savings Plan, and oversaw the management of public land as a member of the State Land Board. After serving two successful terms as State Treasurer, I was determined to stay in the Northwest instead of making a typical transition to Wall Street like many of my counterparts. I wanted to continue to do good work in Oregon, leveraging the robust national network of investor relationships I cultivated during my tenure. I became the Co-Founder and CEO of ENSOGO Analytics, an Oregon-based firm which grew from a simple question asked by a financial advisor: "Can you evaluate a mutual fund on sustainability issues?" My partner and I built a company to quickly and accurately examine sustainable investing (ESG: Environmental, Social, Governance) or avoiding specific exposures to firearms, fossil fuels, or tobacco industries. Our firm was one of the first to rate mutual funds on ESG criteria to help average investors make informed decisions. I am currently a Senior Director for Strategies 360’s Oregon office.
