Managed FP&A, financial reporting and legal entity reporting for Merck's North American Animal Health Business. Merck's Animal Health business provides products and services for both companion animals and livestock with sales in excess of $1 billion.

 Coordinated Finance integration activities resulting from the Merck/Schering Plough merger. Role focused on the integration plan development and execution of in-country legal entity integration activities and interim financial system integrations. Entity integration involves the restructuring of key manufacturing/supply entities, intellectual property ownership and sales and marketing entities where both legacy companies had a legal presence.  Oversaw the Finance organization's portfolio of integration initiatives including organizational design activities, harmonization of tax, accounting and financial planning and reporting processes.  Working with senior global Finance leadership, responsible for the identification, coordination and pull-through of cost savings opportunities generated through integration organization design activities.

 Direct report to the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors, reporting administratively to the CFO. Managed Merck's Global Internal Audit function comprised of approximately 60 professionals. Provided independent audit, control, risk management and related consulting services to the Company as well as oversaw all of the Sarbanes Oxley 404 (S404) testing activities on behalf of management to support the year-end financial control attestations included in the annual 10-K filing. Audit scope was company-wide and included reviews of financial, operational, compliance and IT system processes. Developed the annual audit plan utilizing a risk-based approach. Presented the plan to the Audit Committee annually for approval. Provided support to the Office of Ethics and Corporate Security on an as needed basis for special investigations. Provided pre-implementation IT system audits focused on adherence to the company's IT system life-cycle policies, controls over software/system development, new system transition controls from test to production environments, access security standards and segregation of duties reviews. Implemented new work programs to provide audit coverage with regard to the Foreign Corrupt Practices Act. Programs focused on expenses associated with interactions with government officials. Provided regular reports to the Audit Committee regarding the outcomes of Internal Audits and S404 testing and progress against the approved audit plan. Member of Merck's Corporate Compliance Committee and leader of the Finance Compliance Committee.

 Responsible for the financial/management reporting for the human health subsidiaries within the Asia Pacific region. Provided business performance analysis to Senior Management. Revenue base was approximately $2.4 billion for Asia Pacific. Coordinated the preparation, submission, consolidation and analysis of financial planning information from the subsidiaries including the monthly estimates, annual Profit Plan, Long Range Operating Plan and Capital Expenditure plans. Present monthly results and estimates to the Executive Committee member responsible for the region and to Senior Corporate Financial Management. Assisted with the development of Regional operating strategies to achieve strategic objectives. Member of the Asia Pacific Regional Senior Operating Committee and the Finance Executive Committee.  Provided financial analysis support to the markets and senior line management relating to business development opportunities, divestitures, capital acquisitions and business restructurings. Supported the Corporate Audit Group and field operations with regard to improving the internal control environment of the Merck subsidiaries. Oversaw SOX 404 implementation activities for the in-scope subsidiaries in the region which included significant process and control documentation. Coordinated the talent review process for Finance employees in the region

 Coordinated the submission, consolidation and analysis of financial information from the Latin America field operations including the monthly estimates, annual Profit Plan and Long Range Operating Plan. Present monthly results and estimates to the Sr. Vice President, Latin America, President – Americas and Sr. Financial Management, and assist with the development of Regional operating strategies to achieve strategic objectives.  Provided financial analysis assistance and coordinated Headquarters staff support to Field offices relating to the study of business development projects and analysis of strategic initiatives throughout the Region. Partnered with the Manufacturing Division to develop optimal sourcing strategies for the Region. Actively participated in the development of new product launch plans to ensure adequate supply of product is available at the time of launch.

 As part of the International Controller function, responsible for the consolidation and analysis of actual results and monthly financial forecasts for the Operating Divisions of Latin America and Middle East Africa Regions.  Assisted with the development and consolidation of the annual Plan, Long Range Operating Plan and Long Range Capital Plan. Provided financial support to Senior Management relating to the analysis of acquisitions, divestitures, establishment of joint ventures, licensing agreements, co-marketing/co-promotion arrangements. Prepared presentations and presented analyses to Senior Management for approval. Most notable project was the acquisition of a former Merck business in South Africa.
