With over 30 years of experience in materials science and engineering, I am passionate about developing and applying innovative thin film coating technologies to address the global challenges of renewable energy and environmental sustainability. As the co-founder and head scientific advisor of Verde Technologies Incorporated, I lead a team of researchers and engineers who commercialize thin film solar modules based on our patented thin film coating technologies. I am motivated by the vision of creating affordable, efficient, and scalable solar energy solutions that can transform the energy landscape and reduce the carbon footprint of various industries and sectors.In addition to my role at Verde Technologies, I am also a Professor of Physics at the University of Vermont, where I have been teaching and conducting research since 2001. I have published over 100 peer-reviewed articles in prestigious journals, such as The Journal of Physical Chemistry Letters and Advanced Functional Materials, and have obtained multiple grants and awards for my research on thin film materials and devices. Some of the skills that I use and teach include spectroscopy, nanotechnology, x-ray diffractometry, physical vapor deposition, solution-based thin film coating, and photoluminescence microscopy. I enjoy mentoring and collaborating with students, colleagues, and partners from diverse backgrounds and disciplines, and sharing my knowledge and expertise with the scientific and academic community.
