I am enthusiastic about teaching General, Choral, and Instrumental Music and how I can provide the foundation for future learning both inside and outside the classroom. I am also eager to include technology into my classroom using my background and training in Music Technology. I participated in marching band for 11 years and have seen a wide range of musical abilities and how to successfully and unsuccessfully approach teaching them. For four of those years I was the trumpet section leader, which allowed me to work with and adapt my teaching for different skills levels. Through teaching general, instrumental, and choral externships at Temple University, I feel I have a well-rounded teaching approach having worked with students of various age ranges and abilities. Also, teaching private trumpet lessons has given me the chance to adapt my skills and approaches when working on one of one with students. Having performed both publicly and in many ensembles at Temple University, I have refined and developed my skills as a musician and I hope to share my successes, struggles, and approaches with my students. Knowing that music technology is becoming more popular, my position in the Boyer Recording Studio has allowed me to have first hand experience using music technology and has allowed me to start developing ideas of how to use it in my classroom. In the summer following graduation and/or my first year of teaching, I plan on pursuing further certification in Kodaly and Orff training to expand my teaching approach as well as further my training in music technology. In the Fall of 2017, I received the Diamond Peer Teacher Award from Temple University, which gave me the opportunity to work with Dr. Nathan Buonviri and teach college students. I have also earned my place on the Temple University's Dean's List on three separate occasions, as well as the Ruth M. Lafferty Memorial Award and the Garrigues Scholar Award.
