Randall D. Larson was for many years senior editor for Soundtrack Magazine, publisher of CinemaScore: The Film Music Journal, and a film music columnist for Cinefantastique magazine. A specialist on horror film music, he is the author of Musique Fantastique: A Survey of Film Music in the Fantastic Cinema and Music from the House of Hammer. He currently writes articles on film music, specializing in music for sf/horror cinema, has authored the online Soundtrax column since 2003 (currently at buysoundtrax.com since 2007), has written liner notes for more than 300 soundtrack CDs, and occasionally finds time for an audio commentary about film music on home video releases. He's also written about science fiction & fantasy literature and other topics of interest. He occasionally eats and sleeps. Look for new film music books coming out later this year!For several decades Randall was a 9-1-1 dispatcher, communications supervisor, and field communications manager for several agencies, primarily the San Jose Fire Dept., and has written about public safety for a variety of magazines and web sites.
