Fun/side projects:I mostly play with drones+hardware now, I made an airborne radar and working on detecting incoming bird attacks and spoofing the controller signal momentarily to take an evasive maneuver.I wrote a small script to manipulate Xorg/Firefox and pass the California DMV's online Traffic School completely unattended.I wrote a couple of filesystems w/ unique properties that I don't feel like describing right now.I work on interesting systems level problems. I implemented a new I/O system for ESX using a Linux VM cooperating with the ESX kernel and wrote Linux kernel and ESX kernel modules and support code to make the whole thing work.Paid Work:VMware lead developer for many years of VMsafe Net (DVFilter) Infrastructure for letting third parties write networking applications (Firewall/IDS/IPS/Encapsulation/WAN acceleration, etc) on top of vSphere ESX.I wrote VMware's Generic Traffic Filter framework.Developed kernel and contributed parts to VMWare NSX Network Operating System.Before that I worked on VMDirectPath (PCI Passthrough) feature for ESX 4.0+ http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WhMkmTqBbUA used for direct hardware access.Contributed to demo of Nvidia GPU PCI device passthrough given at Intel Developer Forum, and the code used to support this and other passthrough devices (NICs, etc).Owned AMD's IOMMU driver from our side for this.Developed some multicast implementation, and solutions to deal w/ the fine details of VMware vMotion technology for live migration.Designed Network Security achitecture for Container (Kubernetes, etc) workloads on vSphere platformI lead gcc compiler/toolchain changes affecting thousands of developers across dozens of projectsI worked directly w/ extremely important and prestigious customers (NASA, JP Morgan & various banks, various NATO militaries, etc) on their most critical projects and feature requests, escalations, etc.Worked directly w/ network security companies including Riverbed, Checkpoint, F5, McAfee, TrendMicro to enable and debug their solutions on our platform.I wrote a build system years ahead of its time used by hundreds of devs.All the regular stuff you would expect over this time (mentored senior engineers, interns, soft skills etc.)Specialties: Kernel development (C), networking, rapidly prototyping production grade systems via using higher level languages very effectively (Python, Golang, Perl, Ruby, Bash, Java, etc)Underpaid Work:Southern California Earthquake Center, 2 internships developing 3D simulator/modelISI DETER network security work
