Partner - Labor And Employment Team Leader
CurrentDuring my nearly 30 years of practice, I have been fortunate that many employers have asked me to defend management decisions against legal challenge. I have responded to hundreds of EEOC charges of discrimination. I have assisted employers with investigations and audits of wage and hour law compliance by the U.S. Department of Labor. And I have litigated numerous discrimination, retaliation, and harassment lawsuits and minimum wage and overtime law claims in federal and state courts.Helping employers stay of out of court is also very important. To that end, I regularly counsel employers with an eye to preventing claims arising from day-to-day employment decisions, particularly employee discharges. I enjoy training managers, supervisors, and employees on maintaining a productive work environment through the prevention of discrimination, retaliation, and harassment. I also advise on investigations, documentation of discipline and discharge decision, payroll compliance, and how to navigate conflicting obligations under federal disability/medical leave laws when employees are unable to work.I also counsel non-union employers faced with union organization efforts, help unionized employers with all aspects of management-union relations, including preparation of strike contingency plans and arbitration of grievances under collective bargaining contracts, and defend unfair labor practice charges before the National Labor Relations Board. One interesting area of my practice involves advising on and preparing affirmative action plans for U.S. government contractors and subcontractors. I also have represented contractors in responding to compliance audits of those plans by the Office of Federal Contract Compliance Programs. Over the years, I have prepared more than 200 affirmative action plans and defended against more than 15 OFCCP compliance audits.
