Development Associate
As the Development Associate, I am starting on the track to becoming the Development Director at the Wenatchee River Institute. I will be managing our fundraising program alongside the Executive Director. I will also be managing donors, our database, recognize donors, and meet with prospective donors. This is a great steppingstone on my way down this path of development, and I can't be more excited.
Outreach Manager
The Wenatchee River Institute is a non-profit organization with a mission to connect people, communities and the natural world. I promote our mission in my role as Outreach Manager by making our communities aware of our impact as well as increase community participation in our environmental education programs. In this role, I wear many hats, including marketing, advertising, volunteer coordination, administrative organizational efforts, fundraising, and community outreach.
Events Coordinator
In this part-time role, I organize events for a local independent bookstore including book signings and partnered events with local organizations and businesses. I also stay in communication with authors and publishers regarding book sales at the store and events.
Account Manager
At Agri-Stor, I had the ability and opportunity to create relationships and partnerships with customers, mostly involved in fruit and vegetable processing and packing. Agri-Stor is renowned for their post-harvest solutions, storage services, and climate control in the potato industry along with other crops. I worked directly with the sales of chemistries to accounts in WA, OR, and ID, working mostly with apples and potatoes. I had the opportunity to help expand the company’s business into apples. It was a great opportunity to create connections in new markets and learn how to manage accounts both virtually and in-person. Unfortunately, due to the closed door policy of COVID-19 in fresh pack facilities, I was unable to continue my work. I appreciate all I learned in this position and I look forward to apply it in my next position.
Cider Tender
I got the opportunity to work at the Leavenworth Cider House, the biggest cider house in Washington State. I worked alongside my colleagues to deliver a high quality experience for cider drinkers, beer drinkers, and those who have an interest in learning about hard cider and other beverages. I also had the opportunity serve food as well as beverages and create lasting customer relationships for a brand new, local and family-owned company.
Administrative Assistant
Following my return from Ireland after completing my Masters courses at UCD, I returned to ECW working as an administrative assistant as well as a tasting room attendant. In this role, I worked with scheduling, ordering, organizing events, promoting events, and performing tours and tastings for the winery. In addition, I worked on developing a social media campaign surrounding the company and its events. I worked primarily with the wine club and was a liaison between the owner and our customers.
Vineyard Manager
Following my graduation in May 2017, I returned to Eagle Creek Winery to become the vineyard manager of the small operation in Leavenworth, WA. With that, I managed the vines, irrigation, pesticide application, and vineyard re-establishment. I worked to develop a new sustainable model for the small vineyard to make higher quality wine in the greater Columbia Valley region of Washington state. This was a summer job before heading to graduate school in September 2017 in Dublin, Ireland, but will resume this position in June 2018.
Student Assistant
I worked in the CAHNRS Academic Programs Office on the Washington State University Campus. I assisted with a variety of office and event tasks such as communicating with prospective and current students, meeting the needs of faculty regarding academic programs, planning and implementing events for CAHNRS. I also completed tasks for the Dean of CAHNRS, but worked more closely with the Academic Coordinator for Agricultural & Food Systems and Integrated Plant Science.
Global Learning Ambassador
I guided prospective study abroad students through application and decision processes associated with studying abroad. I gave advice through telling about my experiences abroad. Overall, I get the opportunity to connect with other Global Cougs and tell them about my experiences and how they have helped me get to where I am now.
Student Ambassador
I served as a student ambassador for the College of Agricultural, Human and Natural Resource Sciences (CAHNRS). We strive to outreach to transfer students and high school students all over the state of Washington and the Pacific Northwest. I served as the Vice Facilitator from Fall 2015-Fall 2016 and Outreach Committee Chair from Fall 2015-Spring 2016. We provide information on majors provided in our college to everyone that wants/needs it.
Summer Intern
I interned for the internship titled: Building Capacity and Community while Learning and Growing which focuses on development in 4H members. I work with organizing events and activities for 4H members, administering evaluations and surveys to members in order to add to the WSU research aspect of the internship. Also, I work behind the scenes of the 4H Extension offices in dealing with camps, fairs, and other 4H activities.
Summer Intern
As an intern at a small winery, I have gotten experience with bottling wine and labeling wine bottles as well as retail experience and performing wine tastings for customers. I also have had the opportunity to work in their vineyard with pruning and suckering the vines as well as dealing with irrigation. Working at a winery has given me a full circle outlook on agriculture. On that site, we grow the grapes, harvest, make wine, bottle, advertise and market the wine, to serving it in the tasting room.
Student Tutor
I have the opportunity to tutor WSU students subjects on English (101 and 201), Botany (Biology 120) and Introductory Animal Science (AnSci 101) 3 times a week for a total of 6 hours. I am able to connect with international students in order to help them with their courses and studies.
