I was originally hired as an Applications Engineer for the Federal Division of Phillips. This role mostly consisted of going onsite at military bases or government buildings to provide training on HAAS machines. The role also included general customer support, product recommendations, and performing Machine Acceptance Tests or "Run-offs". I gained some experience in service also which included installing and levelling machines, installing options, and performing software updates. I transitioned to the Hybrid Division in April, 2022. This role includes Training and support for Hybrid Additive machines. It also involves integrating the Additive Engine onto HAAS VMCs. Integration includes: mounting the Additive head in the machine, Modifying the sheetmetal enclosure and installing Laser-safe glass, making all necessary cables and wiring and connecting all power and communications, and troubleshooting and calibration.

I started out setting up 3X, 4X, and 5-axis mills. Mostly HAAS machines including UMC-750's. I learned how to program 5-axis positional parts using GibbsCAM. I later moved into the Lathe Dept. where I programmed and setup 3-axis Live-Tool lathes with Sub Spindles and Barfeeders. I gained experience using 2x HAAS DS30y's and a Mori Seiki NL2500sy. I also set up 2 SL20's with Barfeeders. I used HAAS controllers from nearly every generation. There were machines from the late 90's up to the most current NGC software. Additionally, there were several Hitachi Seiki Lathes I also used occasionally. I often took the more complex jobs and frequently made custom tooling reach certain features. We also did a lot of our own service on machines such as turret alignments and replacing worn or broken parts, belts, sensors, etc.

I worked at TAIT during the summers until I graduated and worked full-time while attending night classes at Thaddeus Stevens College of Technology. I performed a variety of tasks including Aluminum TIG welding and Fabrication, MIG Welding, Project Integration, and Prototyping/Modifying parts on Manual Machinery. Towards the end of my tenure I was working full-time in the machine shop mostly running 3-axis Vertical Machining Centers. I learned how to read and edit G-code and became familiar with several vintages of FANUC controllers from the early 1990's to current. I gained experience with FeatureCAM which was our CAM software at the time.
