I worked on a project that aimed to automate the troubleshooting of client servers by support staff and centralize historical performance analysis. We ultimately decided to build upon a legacy background service that gathered customer data to be stored to an internal SQL data lake. The changes we made included expanding the data collected to encompass all customer configurations, collecting performance data, and adding historical tracking for changes in the database. We then built and deployed a dotnet REST API that provided easy access to our new expanded database. In the final stretch of the internship we were also tasked with supervising the development of a React web app that displayed historical client data by connecting to our database API. Additionally I was able to find and fix major bugs in the legacy system that prevented proper processing of collected data.

I instructed students in large group computer labs as well as individualized online office hours. I also had a primary role in grading coding projects. Worked remotely due to Covid-19.In my second year as a Teaching Assistant, I facilitated the hiring of new TAs by developing coding interview questions and sitting in on online face to face interviews.

As an undergraduate researcher working under a PhD student in the Bennet Lab, I Investigated mutational hotspots in Candida Albicans using a novel haploid model. I also trained in phenotypic selection techniques using fluorescent microscopy and selective culturing media. I also utilized flow cytometry to check ploidy of transformed Albicans strains.

At the Drakos cardiology lab, I elucidated the role of the one-carbon pathway in the recovery of heart failure patients post LVAD removal. I assisted sample collection in the operating room from heart transplants surgeries. I also aided in categorizing and processing old patient tissue and blood samples for phosphoproteomic screening. Additionally, I analyzed old phosphoproteomic and RNAseq data to search for differences in the level of metabolites between heart failure recovery and non-recovery patients.

At the Winter lab, I tested the viability of Fusarium Heterosporum as a potential platform for the biosynthesis of terpenes for use as an anti-inflammatory agent. There, I learned techniques for transforming DNA into microbial organisms as well as extracting terpenes from fungal cultures. I also had the opportunity to facilitate other Interns in progressing their projects when our advisor had to go out of state. At the end of the experience, I presented my findings to a forum of peers and professors.
