Joined a familiar face for a lot of new experiences automating cloud to cloud and legacy to cloud migration processes.

I was also able to get involved with a number of other projects and efforts with other teams.⬥ Development of an IoT device and API to pass data from POS to a resident app and manage communication with an equipment controller.⬥ Extract and transform data from across the system to provide timely analysis. Notable efforts include: - Determining the transaction level effects of a provider outage across the system. - Analysing the differences noted in the lab from those reported in the field by distilling, collecting, and parsing data from across the entire system to determine step component timing of credit transactions and referencing information on connection transfer speeds. ⬥ Deployment of operations critical Esocket P2PE payments solution to Wendy’s sites.⬥ Develop solutions to integrate and manage new devices. ⬥ Utilize Puppet to provision, and maintain a desired state of the devices.⬥ Create custom tools that expedite remediation.⬥ Work with several teams to support the rollout, and continued sustainability of solution.⬥ Identify and implement improvements to the system. ⬥ Escalation point for support to ensure continued functionality. I brought my experience and commitment to product availability, and explored ways of providing a highly available solution using new tools.Some of the responsibilities and projects included:⬥ Thin Client Cloud Access App Management. Using custom chatops (Salt, BASH, and Slack), designed and automated methods to interactively manage version control for various Dev and Prod client pools, delivering and applying updates to remote thin client devices via commands issued in Slack channels.⬥ Server Management for Cloud Infrastructure.Monitored server health, software deployment, the integrity of vital configuration files, scheduled tasks, and services. Remediating and notifying when events exceeded acceptable margins. ⬥ Custom tools for user management. Including locating a session on an RDSH with an option to restart, tracking user connections, and identifying specific user logins to assist sales team. ⬥ Thin Client Optimization and Imaging.Using Salt, created hundreds of verifiable states to ensure consistency during development of a base OS image, and preparation of the image for a factory provisioning process. I started in their POS hardware depot, and at the end of my time there I was a member of a five-person team tasked with maintaining approximately 2,500 nodes across 400 sites running proprietary POS software on a QNX (Unix) platform. During my time there I was able to learn to be effective in a variety of roles. I think my biggest take away, with the restaurants being 24/7/364, I learned a lot about fast and effective triage. ⬥ Kept a constant focus on limiting downtime to lower the impact on business operations, and reduce stress on Castle personnel.⬥ Invented tools and methods to streamline troubleshooting regular tasks and maintenance items, retrieve information from sites to help identify and expedite resolutions, present information to assist in QA and optimization of the regional data structure, automate the actions of complicated tasks, and on and on.⬥ Troubleshoot hardware and software problems working with regional technicians and non-technical Castle personnel.⬥ Designed methods and practices to migrate from one Point of Sale cash register system to another with emphasis on time.⬥ Created custom reports aggregated from various data sources to suit need.⬥ Maintained UI/UX and databases for POS software. ⬥ Automated the creation of daily reporting functions with an emphasis on accuracy and delivery. ⬥ Integrated new hardware and software solutions, tracking variations from the base systems.⬥ Created and presented a wide array of classes to train regional personnel of varying skill levels. ⬥ Design of White Castle Kiosk (Customer Facing POS). Including the design and creation of all images using GIMP.⬥ Created methods for live monitoring/alerting of console interaction for PCI compliance.⬥ Made tools to identify and remediate data that was out of compliance.
