After Alden, I was hired at Weyerhaeuser specifcally for my experience in EPA GC/MS test methods for which Alden was certified in the State of Washington. My Alden experience directly transferred into successful applications in both soil and water testing. When a position became available in the Dioxin Lab using a High Resolution Dual Sector instrument, that was added to my assignments and I became a Team Leader for the GC/MS Volatiles, Dioxin, and IR Labs. When that level of management was eliminated, I accepted the role of Technical Specialist for all the Organics labs. My current focus is on special projects working directly with business line customers while continuing to moonlight in the Dioxin Lab.

After SKBL (Seattle), I worked for a small start-up lab associated with a combustion engineering firm. As a GC and GC/MS lab, Alden performed very high quality organics analysis for small local private and public customers. A large contract was providing analytical services for Exxon Biomedical in support of the Exxon Valdez oil spill assessment. Sadly, Alden was caught in a tight position competing with other engineering firm's in-house labs and is no longer in business.

First position after Grad. School. Worked as GC/MS confirmation chemist in the Toxicology Dept. Originally hired by ICL, and continued after their purchase by SKBL. Title was R&D, but spent most time on Toxicology projects. Left after last ICL manager was squeezed out by new team and our customers had time to see if different service levels were going to be OK with them.
