My group consists of up to 30 individuals including EEs, MEs, SW engineers, technicians, and logisticians. We are responsible for the hardware portion of the sustainment and modernization of the BMEWS/PAVEPAWS phased array radar sites. There are currently 5 active sites located in three countries. The sustainment activities include failure analysis and repair of the deployed hardware as well as forward looking identification of potential issues that could keep the current radars from functioning in the future. The modernization effort includes new design from system level to board level. It encompasses specification, design, manufacture, installation, verification and validation of new performance upgrades as well as modernization of obsolete equipment. The design breadth covers everything from the antenna, RF, analog, digital, main frame/super computers (vendor provided), networking, cooling design and test set design (EE & ME). This group currently supports over 20 separate projects.
