Retired (on April 1, 2021) as President and CEO of the National Grain and Feed Association (NGFA), Washington, DC and Arlington, Va. Served in that role for more than eight years. Worked nearly 43 years for this non-profit agribusiness association, joining its staff in July 1978 as Director of Information Services. Later was promoted to Director of Communications (1982), Vice President of Communications and Government Relations (1987) and President (in 2012).NGFA, established in 1896, consists of more than 1,000-member companies whose approximately 7,500 facilities handle more than 70 percent of America’s grain and oilseed crop. The Association encompasses all sectors of the industry, a balance of small and large companies that are both privately owned and co-op firms. Was the sixth individual to serve as NGFA’s CEO since its inception.Prior to joining NGFA in 1978, worked for nearly three years with the University of Nebraska-Lincoln Agricultural Communications Department in its agricultural Extension Service developing written communications for both agricultural producers and urban audiences.
