Early experience as a teacher in Northern Borneo with the Peace Corps awakened a desire to contribute something meaningful to the planet, and a recognition that in comparison with most of the world, I had been endowed with such a wealth of education and skills. After 8 years as Senior Editor with a publisher, working closely with Children's Television Workshop and with Pleasant Rowland, founder of American Girl, I started and Directed a publishing division for National Public Radio. I then founded and managed three multi-media publishing companies, the most recent of which, The Benefactory, founded in 1990, fostered animal protection and environmental preservation via true stories about animals of all kinds. The company won licenses with 18 major humane nonprofits such as The HSUS and Green Chimneys. I've served as Senior V.P with More Than Wheels, a nonprofit helping low and middle income families in New England to repair credit, learn financial literacy and gain access to a low interest, reliable car. And then I came full circle, back to literacy and children, as Executive Director of Raising a Reader MA, in Boston, MA. Now I am seeking an entrepreneurial opportunity that capitalizes on a myriad of experience and skill, and that contributes meaningfully.
