I am honored to have retired from the Lansing Board of Water and Light in 2022.As Customer Projects Supervisor, I was responsible for leading and performing customer communication, distribution design, and project management; including financial analysis associated with electric distribution design associated with service installation and service modification required to optimally meet or exceed BWL customer requirements. All work performed in the context and spirit of BWL’s strategic plan.I retired from BWL with a range of career highlights including a number I am truly proud of: • Increased projected new commercial electric revenue from $850,000 to more than $5M in 2021 • Developed program to upgrade entire street lighting system from high pressure sodium to LED lighting for City of Lansing/East Lansing, Delta Twp., Lansing Twp. This multi-year conversion included 34,000 High Pressure Sodium (HPS) to Light Emitting Diode (LED).• Supervised installation of BWL's first micro-grid installation.• Lead team member for implementation of Smart Metering - AMI.Essential Functions:• Oversight of electrical design and approval for overhead, underground, street lighting and outdoor lighting, and joint use projects. • Knowledge of the National Electric Safety Code and relevant sections of the National Electric Code. • Supervises and supports Utility Services ensuring quality customer communication and service processing. Supervises work of outside technical contractors for required engineering services. • Ensures standardization and quality control of sketches, allocations, work orders, authorizations, estimates, service orders, service spots, release packages and customer service agreements. • Functions also include design of electrical projects, service quality, and all related issues associated with customer delivery services at the BWL through leading coordination with various BWL stakeholders including T&D Planning and Records Management. • Negotiate distribution routes, cost, permits, easements and arrangements with customers, attorneys, and outside agencies such as city, county, state, government and inspection agencies. • Set billing rate for project, assist in billing/service account set up and review account for proper billing after construction. • Follow-up and tracking of revenue projects versus actual revenue and estimated construction cost utilizing approved SI&CP and Accounting software. • Develop and enhance technical skills to keep abreast of current technologies and engineering practices.
