My primary calling in life is to aid others in their time of need. I'm career focused and driven to succeed by continuously setting and achieving manageable goals. Without consistently aiming at something new, it's easy to get lost in this world! Another philosophy I have in life is to always be open to learning something new from those I meet and striving to provide the same in turn. My mother and her twin sister, my aunt, were both nurses. I have two cousins that are nurses and a third cousin, who is a Cardiac ICU Nurse Practitioner. Professor Frederick B. Power, PhD, MD, my great grandfather, was a pharmacist before entering medical school and becoming a physician. He helped found and became the first Professor at the School of Pharmacy at the University of Madison-Wisconsin. Today, the library there bares his name as the Dr. FB Power Medical Library. My background is nursing and healthcare as well. After nursing school I worked at several hospitals in the Seattle, WA area, gaining valuable experience in multiple areas of nursing. The ones I enjoyed the most were General Med/Surg nursing, Orthopedics, Alcohol/Drug detox and Blood Banking. After moving back to Nebraska I joined the American Red Cross. I was a Team Supervisor for 8 years before I took an offer to be the Interim-Collections Manager for Central/West Nebraska. A couple months later, I was promoted to be the permanent Collections Manager for the Central and Western Nebraska districts. After two years in this position, I decided to transfer back to Omaha and resume my role as a Team Supervisor in the East Nebraska District. The professional growth I've received working with the American Red Cross is immeasurable and provides me tremendous satisfaction. To be part of an interdisciplinary team ensuring critical blood components will be available when needed is something I am honored to do. My second passion is no less compelling to me. For many years I've been engaged in the exploration and investigation of the paranormal phenomena that exists in our world. I established an investigative group called Interstate Paranormal in 2008 to research paranormal activity. We have traveled all over the country and have witnessed firsthand the unexplainable. Our goal is to document what we experience and present it as evidence of what we believe....that life is continuous and doesn't end after death.
