The primary objective of the company was to come up with several methodologies for enhancing heavy oil recovery. I worked in the EOR division working on several types of core flooding. We used steam flooding and polymer flooding as two methods for looking at secondary and tertiary recovery. The floods were done in a laboratory setting and then tested in the field.The position of research technologist/geologist had the following responsibilities: laboratory flood design, laboratory flood development utilizing proper equipment, select cores and fluids, daily monitoring of core floods, communication with senior research staff, report writing, apparatus set-up,calibration of select equipment, and calculations using computer aided software.
