Senior Principal EngineerOrbital Atk Feb 2015 - Jun 2018Dulles, Virginia, UsAs member of the Space Systems Group, I support the design, analysis, and test of satellites and launch vehicles. I'm currently working as a Mission Systems Engineer and perform architecture development for small satellite systems. My current responsibility is as the chief technical lead on a small satellite program which requires me to manage a team of subsystem leads and guide the spacecraft to an optimized design that meets technical requirements within budget and schedule constraints. As part of my job I am also investigating innovative applications for additive manufacturing in space systems. -
Principal EngineerOrbital Sciences Corporation Jan 2014 - Feb 2015Dulles, Va, UsAfter completing Orbital’s G. David Low Engineering Rotation Program, I elected to join Orbital’s Systems Engineering Department full time supporting the development of a new launch vehicle. I am in the Systems Analysis Group and my responsibilities including acting as the programs Mass Properties Lead, System Loads Lead, and performing miscellaneous trade studies. I also support the program's Interface Requirements Group by writing requirements and generating system specifications. -
Senior EngineerOrbital Sciences Corporation Jan 2012 - Jan 2014Dulles, Va, UsParticipant in the G. David Low Engineering Rotation. 1st Rotation: I&T Electrical Engineering2nd Rotation: Safety & Mission Assurance3rd Rotation: Systems EngineeringFor my first rotation I joined the Integration & Test group as an Electrical Engineer. I supported Orbital’s Hylas-2 program through the majority of its I&T flow including launch support. During this rotation I gained knowledge and experience on how a spacecraft functions including commanding & telemetry. I also learned how to program in STOL and how to operate a satellite ground station. My second rotation was spent in the Safety & Mission Assurance group supporting Orbital’s COTS/CRS program. The focus of this rotation was supporting failure investigations for Cygnus spacecraft in various phases of the program. I also performed reliability analysis for the mission and generated safety documentation. In my final rotation I worked as a Systems Engineer supporting the design of a new launch vehicle program. During this rotation I acted as the program lead for mass properties and loads. I leveraged my previous experience as a Mechanical Analyst to act as the systems liaison to the structures group. I also wrote several requirements documents. -
Senior EngineerOrbital Sciences Corporation Jul 2007 - Jan 2012Dulles, Va, UsMember of the Mechanical Analysis group, I perform detailed modeling and analysis of spacecraft stresses and dynamic loads. Dynamic analysis includes fixed base sine and random vibration, acoustic and shock. Stress analysis performed for launch vehicle quasi-static loads for composite and metallic structures. Extensive spacecraft and component level testing experience. I’ve been the acting Test Director for all spacecraft dynamic testing at Dulles facility. This responsibility requires coordination of multiple engineering disciplines working 2-3 shifts for several weeks, overseeing test operations and managing test failures, when they occur. I have directed 15+ dynamic testing campaigns since 2008. I also acted as the Mechanical Analysis Lead for the Glory, F6 and OCO-2 programs. Lead analyst are responsible for managing the analysis tasks for their programs, coordinating multiple analysis, working with the program office and customer and addressing day-to-day analysis needs. -
