When Cat Auction Services (CAS) combined with IronPlanet, I was asked to lead the integration of the CAS events as another important marketplace format for our customers. CAS works closely with our Caterpillar dealer members to conduct on-site auction events across North America. These events typically feature late model low hour heavy equipment across all makes and models from premier sellers. We have been successful in introducing these compelling Cat Auction Services marketplace events to IronPlanet’s 1.3 million users, which has driven unprecedented online participation and further created value for our sellers and buyers in these events.

When IronPlanet was awarded the exclusive rights to sell U.S. Department of Defense (DoD) surplus rolling stock, I led our organization in the creation and launch of GovPlanet to serve as the only online marketplace offering this specialized inventory. After closely supporting the DoD’s effort to approve the sale of Humvees to the public, the first GovPlanet marketplace event with Humvees, held on December 18, 2014, attracted 111,000 unique visitors to our website. GovPlanet routinely sells 250+ items per week in regularly scheduled marketplace events.

When we identified an opportunity to diversify our offering and improve our penetration of the commercial truck space with a truck specific marketplace, I was selected to oversee the creation and launch of this new channel for IronPlanet. TruckPlanet hosts truck and trailer-specific auctions on a weekly basis to achieve faster conversion to cash for sellers and provides buyers with a robust commercial truck inventory. Within a year of launch, TruckPlanet had sold more than $70 Million worth of inventory from North American sellers to over 2,600 buyers around the world.
