When I was young—really young...like 5- or 6-years-old—my mother already knew I was destined for a career in advertising. On Friday nights, while my parents were watching Dallas along with the rest of the country, I would be bouncing off the walls, as restless children who have little to no interest in nighttime TV dramas are prone to do. However, during the commercial breaks, I would sit quietly and watch...fascinated by those 30- to 60-second stories. Now, some may say that's a symptom of ADHD, which it is. I prefer to think of it as a foreshadowing...an early affinity for the creative ability to tell a persuasive story in a short amount of time. That's what I grew up to be: a creative advertising storyteller. I'm a writer. I'm a creative thinker. I'm a problem solver. My job is to move people—co-workers, clients, customers—in a way they aren't expecting. I am a creative because I enjoy seeing my work move people. I want so see them laugh. I want them see them cry. I want so see them moved to act. That's when I know I've been successful. That's why I do what I do.
