URMC is one of the leading Academic Medical Centers in the United States. Serving in my role as Project Director for Imaging Informatics my purpose was to assist all departments within the medical center with projects related to their clinical imaging needs. The goal was to bring an enterprise wide view and structure to the solutions that were being implemented within various departments.During my time led URMC on an initiative to bring a tiered storage and delivery structure to clinical imaging. This allowed for greater economies of scale in the long term storage of medical images as well as increased distribution capabilities so that health care providers had access to patient images to help them drive better outcomes.URMC is an extremely diverse environment and in order to achieve these goals it required extensive relationship building, collaborative thinking, and interfacing with all levels of leadership to help people realize what solutions existed or could be built to help their specific department provide better patient care.As the driving force behind IT architecture I applied the same process thinking used in building Imaging Informatics solutions to bring structure to the project delivery process. Working with SME's, PM's and more we built a collaborative team to evaluate new projects and match them to existing solutions and/or diagram how we could adopt new technologies to meet the needs of the clients.This evolved into being an internal consultant on RFP's, new technology, and other initiatives that would see technology brought into URMC.
