Managed the IT helpdesk and network engineering team in support of an organization that sold market leading order management solutions to retailers. Technologies I supported for internal IT at CommercialWare included Cisco Catalyst switching, 2600 series routers, all flavors of Windows Server/Desktop OS's, SQL, AS/400, Avaya. In this role, I also worked with R&D to build installation scripts to delivery commercial solutions to customers, using InstallShield. Additionally, I assisted with performance testing the order management software sold by CommercialWare.

I joined Renaissance Worldwide in 1997 as a desktop engineer in their offices on Wells Ave. in Newton. My primary responsibilities included providing level 1 support of the desktop computing environment for staff located in Wells Ave. and in remote offices. I quickly saw opportunities to innovate and automate much of the manual labor that was being done at the time relative to software distribution, imaging, and system maintenance. Several early project successes during my tenure at Renaissance positioned me well for a promotion to Network Administration after just one year of working at Renaissance.During my next two years with Renaissance, I was part of an incredible team of talented IT professionals that executed a flawless move of our data center to new corporate headquarters in Waltham. During my time with Renaissance, I also earned my MCSE in NT 4.0, and with the help of terrific mentors, I developed a passion for network engineering, protocols, IP, security, Unix, and messaging.

In this role, I worked in the IT Department's helpdesk providing end user computing support for some of the most brilliant business minds on the planet! I owe a tremendous debt of gratitude to those in the IT department at Bain that give me a chance to experience a whole new world, including Peter Smith, Mike Doherty, Stephen Davis and Eric Wilde. During my second year at Bain, I gained exposure to data center operations. I was responsible for assisting with backups of an AS/400, monitoring mailflow using CCMail, and performing junior level user and directory administration tasks in a NetWare 3.x/4.x environment. Additionally, I assisted with the rollout of Windows 95 to the business.
