I have written papers on how to use software-defined storage to implement converged and hyper-converged storage with direct-attached SSDs. I'm familiar with storage implementations supporting virtual server environments including VMware and HyperV including VSAN and Windows Server 2016 Storage Spaces Direct. I have created collaborative marketing relationships with key vendors that highlight joint benefits.

Responsible for writing product briefs and supporting application notes using key software applications to the show performance benefits of using the Nytro WarpDrive™ flash-based PCIe board and the Nytro MegaRAID® flash cache-assisted HDD controller. The following are additional responsibilities and accomplishments.• Database acceleration efforts: I arranged for TPC benchmark testing and documented performance gains and best practices when using flash accelerator cards with Oracle 11g, Microsoft SQL Server, and MySQL. I conducted sales training to explain the database market and application and the significance of the results.• Big Data acceleration efforts: After using the TeraSort benchmark on a Hadoop test bed, I documented TCO improvements achieved when using flash caching technology with HDDs.• VDI acceleration efforts: I facilitated the purchase of a LoginVSI benchmarking license to measure VDI performance and arranged for the training of an in-house engineer. Using this recognized industry standard benchmark, I created marketing presentations and collateral supporting VDI performance gains using flash.• Software-defined Storage efforts: To enable flash accelerator cards to provide highly available shared storage necessary for VMware ESX, I worked with leading network connectivity provider to leverage public-sourced software to create a economical storage solution. High performance was demonstrated with VMware Horizon View.
Responsible for identifying and creating solution-based content around Quantum’s data deduplication technology. Emphasis was given on backup solutions in a VMware environment. Content included white papers, presentations, webinars, web pages, case studies, and web-based tools. Web analytics and lead generation statistics were used to determine success.Managed the creation of configuration and best practice guides and the performance testing and feature comparison of competitive products.
Selected and price listed storage connectivity products including host bus adapters, fibre channel switches, and SAN management software. I negotiated necessary costing, determined pricing, created marketing collateral, created web content, presentations and worked closely with OEM vendors to train Sun direct and channel sales forces. I created promotions to drive selling behavior and created content for SAN infrastructure products on sun.com.
Added the Lightning 9900V datacenter-class RAID product line from Hitachi Data Systems to the Sun price list. Educated and supported the sales force on this complex product.
• Convinced Fujitsu to develop a LTO (Linear Tape Open) compatible tape drive. Defined product specifications, investigated and found a contract engineering company for mechanical tape path development, and acted as program manager until development resources were available. Fujitsu left the tape business before the product could be brought to market.• Product manager of Fujitsu's 3480, 3490E, and 3590 IBM-compatible tape drives.
• Marketing manager of a IBM-compatible 3490E cartridge tape drive. Created the marketing plan, brochures, advertising, sales presentations, and developed business alliances with tape library manufacturers, hierarchical storage management software vendors, and backup software vendors. Management responsibility of sales support, technical support, and a regional saleman.• Conceived, championed the development, and introduced the RapidChanger 12" write-once optical disk drive family. The RapidChanger, a 5-cartridge library using dual-optical heads, earned the 1991 Distinguished Achievement Award given by Rothchild Consultants, a San Francisco market research firm. Successfully changed the customer benefit expectations of jukeboxes from high capacity to high performance.
Introduced a ruggedized 5 ¼" optical disk drive for the demanding environments of the government and military marketplace.
• Managed the development of an optical disk drive and designed specific areas of the digital electronics at a start-up company. Managed twelve engineers. Received a patent on an error correction implementation.• Designed the first single board 32-bit central processor units (CPU) and a floating point processor.
