Randy Hafer founded High Plains Architects in Billings, Montana in 1999 after spending 18 years working in Chicago and Montana. Since then, he has been a regional leader in sustainable design, historic preservation, and urban revitalization. He has completed scores feasibility studies and master plans, nine historic tax credit projects, and eleven LEED Platinum projects, resulting in numerous green building and preservation awards. Randy was the first to receive a Montana BetterBricks award for Architecture. An active community leader, Hafer has presented across the country, including the 2011 AIA National Convention, the Montana Economic Summit, TEDxBillings, and the Innovate Montana Conference, on the topics of historic tax credits, high performance design, and running a small business. He has been an integral part of the development of over a dozen downtown, mixed-use buildings and has served on numerous boards for the City of Billings, Downtown Billings Partnership and State of Montana. In 2014 Randy and his wife Janna were the Small Business Association's Montana Small Business Persons of the year.Randy is a licensed architect and LEED Accredited Professional. He was elevated to the AIA College of Fellows in 2014 and holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Architecture from Stanford University and a Master of Architecture degree from Yale University.
