I communicate on a monthly basis with personal contacts of small and medium sized companies for the purpose of obtaining employment data.This includes employee counts, payroll and hours worked, among other factors. It involves working with the Computer Assisted Telephone Interviewer (CATI) software application.The process also includes qualifying and enrolling businesses in the Current Employment Statistics Program through interview techniques that lead to relevant data. Timely follow-up skills and persistence are necessary to ensure success.The position also requires personal attention to the data provided so accuracy is ensured and major fluctuations from previous reports are documented and coded properly. A great deal of rapport that one builds with the company contacts is both a necessary and very satisfying part of the job.All reported data is included in a monthly report released by the US Bureau of Labor Statistics.
