Installed, maintained and repaired equipment needed for interior communications within ships and shore facilities. Communications systems included public address systems, interior telephone systems, alarm systems, engine telegraphs to communicate orders for changes in engine speed from the bridge (ship's command station) to the engine room, certain kinds of ship control and equipment monitoring devices, the ship's gyrocompass, the rudder position indicator, audio-visual equipment for the ship's TV entertainment systems, advanced navigation, and various other equipment. Installed telephone and other communications circuits, boxes, switchboards and bell buzzer systems; maintained plotters and dead reckoning equipment; maintained and operated TV systems. Maintained and repaired shipboard navigation equipment.• Knowledge of operational risk management• Troubleshoot, repair, and maintain the integrated voice communication system• Troubleshoot electronic communications systems• Repair of Integrated Voice Communication System AN/STC-2(V)• Maintained on and operates the Integrated Voice Communications System (STC-2(V)) and associated peripheral equipment installed in the system.
